This lack of transparency is a common ‘playbook’ in the self-storage industry, often involving significant, unexpected price hikes after the initial period or artificially inflating prices and discounting heavily. At Squab, we are implementing this Pricing Charter because we want to distinguish ourselves from competitors by building our customer relationships on trust and long-term value, not short-term price gauging.

The Squab Pricing Charter sets out the principles behind how we manage pricing across our stores. It explains how promotions work, how prices may vary between locations, and the commitments we make to treat our customers fairly.

Prices you can see upfront
All of our storage prices are published on our website. You can view availability and pricing without needing to enter your personal details first. We believe customers should be able to see the cost of storage before starting a conversation with us. Our prices reflect the real cost of operating secure, modern storage facilities in each local market.

Honest introductory offers
Squab will never use promotions to disguise the true cost of storage. From time to time we offer promotions to help customers get started with storage. These offers have clear terms and are designed to make moving into storage easier, not to create confusion about long-term pricing.

A period of price stability
When a customer’s promotional period ends, their storage price moves to the normal store rate. To give customers peace of mind, Squab commits to holding that price steady for a period of up to 12 months, so customers are not faced with immediate or unexpected increases.

Local market pricing
Squab operates facilities in different towns and cities, each with its own property costs, demand levels and competitive landscape. For that reason, prices and promotions may vary by location to ensure they remain fair and competitive within the local market.

Responsible price reviews
Over time, prices may occasionally be reviewed to reflect inflation, operating costs and local market conditions. When this happens, we aim to manage changes responsibly and provide appropriate notice at least 28 days in advance before a new rate effect takes place, in accordance with the Self Storage Association UK’s Industry Standards.
